March is Nutrition Month, and at CAMH we’re spotlighting the dedicated staff who go above and beyond every day to provide patients with nutritious, comforting, and culturally appropriate meals throughout their care.
Our Nutritional Services team prepares 40% of all meals from scratch right here on campus, serving 500 inpatient beds. They manage more than 30 base menus and adapt them into over 200 diet combinations, including a recently introduced Indigenous menu designed for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis patients.
How do they accomplish all of this in a single day?
We recently went behind the scenes in the CAMH kitchens with Christina Braun, Manager of Nutritional Services and Supply Chain Management. Alongside 80 team members and two full-time culinary chefs, Nutritional Services works tirelessly to meet the unique needs of every patient who walks through our doors.
Balanced meals give the brain essential nutrients to function at their best. They help stabilize mood, sharpen focus, and support emotional well-being. Nutritious food also provides dignity, comfort, and a stronger foundation for healing.
Thank you to our hardworking Nutritional Services team for the care and commitment you bring to patients every day.
